How to use Kick Counter

Log baby movements in a timed session — so you know your baby’s usual pattern and can share it with your care team.

When to use it

  • Your clinician asked you to count movements
  • You want a calm daily check-in in the second or third trimester
  • Movements feel different and you want a clearer record before you call

Steps

  1. Open Kick Counter. In the Velenya app, go to Care and open Kick Counter (unlocks from the 2nd trimester when your due date is set). Or tap Open Kick Counter on the web if the app is installed.
  2. Start a session. Begin when you are resting and can notice movements. The session timer starts so you can see how long it took to reach your count.
  3. Tap each movement. Every time you feel a kick, roll, or distinct movement, tap once. You do not need a perfect technique — consistency for your baby matters more than a magic number from the internet.
  4. Finish and save. When you reach the count your care team suggested (or when the session feels complete), end the session so it is stored in your history.
  5. Review or export. Open past sessions anytime. Export or share a simple report if your clinician wants to see the pattern.

Tips

  • Try the same time of day when you can — patterns are easier to compare.
  • If your care team gave a specific method (e.g. count to 10), follow their instructions over generic app defaults.
  • Partner View can show a calm snapshot; it does not replace calling your unit when movements feel fewer than usual.

Important

Kick Counter is a wellness log, not a diagnosis. If movements feel fewer than usual, or your clinician’s guidance says to seek care, contact your maternity team or emergency services right away — do not wait on the app.
